About the college
The Jadu College of Engineering was opened in 1991 under decision number (740/91) of the former People's General Committee and continued until 1999, when it was administratively merged with the former April 7 University and the students were transferred to the College of Engineering/Former Al-Fateh University.
In the year 2000, a university of popular departments was established in Gharian under decision number (2000/215) and continued until 2005. In 2005, the universities of the departments in the Western Mountain region were merged under the name of the Western Mountain University, and the College of Engineering/Gharian was opened, incorporating the College of Engineering/Jadu as a branch.
In 2009, the universities of Western Mountain and Zawiya were merged under the name of the Western Mountain University in Zawiya, with the headquarters of the Engineering College in Sirt being considered the main campus, while the campuses of the Engineering Colleges in Jadu and Gharian were branches. However, the merger did not last long, as the Western Mountain University separated from Zawiya University, and the headquarters of the Engineering College in Gharian became the main campus of the Engineering College at Western Mountain University, while the Engineering College in Jadu was classified as a branch.
In 2013, Jadu Engineering College was separated from the Engineering College in Gharian and considered an independent college. In 2017, Nalut University was established, and Jadu Engineering College was among the colleges of the university.
