About the Department


The Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Engineering in Jadu was established in 1992, with the aim of serving the community and preparing qualified engineering professionals in the fields of architecture and urban planning, combining academic principles with practical skills.

The department awards a bachelor's degree in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning upon successful completion of (161) credit hours, equivalent to (220) hours, which includes a graduation project.

curriculum


The academic department follows a semester system, consisting of two semesters in the academic year. One is known as the fall semester, which begins on September 15th of each year. The other semester is known as the spring semester, which starts on February 15th. There is an official break between the two semesters according to the regulations in effect at the college, and the college council may make any adjustments to these dates as deemed appropriate for the current circumstances at that time.

  • · The duration of study in the department is five years, divided into (10) academic semesters according to the guiding plan, and the duration of the academic semester is (16) weeks, including the examination period.
  • Each student is entitled to study a minimum of (14) credit hours and a maximum of (18) credit hours in one academic semester.
  • The department is opened to receive new students according to the available resources in the scientific department, including the provision of faculty members and teaching assistants.
  • Students are accepted into the department according to the conditions agreed upon by the department council at the time, and usually as follows:
  1. The student's personal desire and passing (24) credit hours.
  2. Passing the course of engineering drawing and descriptive geometry.
  3. Passing the admission exam according to the agreed-upon mechanism in the scientific department, which usually consists of a theoretical exam, a practical exam, and a personal interview.
  4.  Determining the appropriate number of students to be accepted based on the department's capacity at the time.
  5. Acceptance of students transferring from other colleges according to the regulations and procedures in effect at the college.
  6. It is required for the transferring student to provide the documents that show the courses they have studied, the scientific content of each, the number of units, grades, and evaluations in order to conduct an equivalency model for them.
